Like any other child? Children and families in the asylum process. A report by Barnado’s and located in full text on their website at: http://www.barnardos.org.uk/asylum
Like any other child? is a report about one of the UK’s most marginalised groups - asylum seeking and refugee children and families. Since 2002, we estimate that there have been more than 40,000 children arriving in the UK in asylum seeking families, but there could be over 100,000 in total caught up in a backlogged asylum system. We welcome the government’s New Asylum Model which should now deal with asylum cases quickly and fairly.

“You Can Detain Anyone for Anything” : Iran’s Broadening Clampdown on Independent Activism. A new report by Human Rights Watch which can be viewed online by following this link [report online]
“The Iranian government is relying on its broadly worded “security laws” to suppress virtually any public expression of dissent, Human Rights Watch said in a report released today. It uses these laws to subject those arrested to prolonged incommunicado detention without charge, solitary confinement, and denial of access to counsel.”
